Derek to tour this fall

Simon & Schuster is sending Derek on tour this fall to promote his two new picture books, Blue Burt and Wiggles and How the Easter Bunny Saved Christmas. Though dates and tour stops have yet to be determined, initial plans are for the end of September or the beginning of October. More details to come...

Derek just returned from a short
tour of Sunny San Diego!

 

Things kicked off on Sunday, March 12th at Red Balloon Bookshop on Grand Avenue in Saint Paul. They had a huge display of Derek's books. Wow! That's a lot of books!

 

Derek traveled on to sunny San Diego where he spoke and signed at a number of events in the area. Here, he is reading to a group of students at Yellow Book Road- a fantastic independent bookstore in La Mesa, California. Behind him is the wall of fame where authors and illustrators get to leave their mark. Derek did too!

 

Barnes and Noble sponsored some of Derek's events in San Diego. They were featuring a Little Quack display in the front of their store!

 

In addition to Yellow Book Road and a bookstore called Warwick's (in La Jolla), Derek spoke to audiences at the Escondido Public Library and three area schools. He also talked to a really terrific group of teachers.

 

Here Derek speaks at a school on St. Patrick's Day. He thought he was dressed for the occasion in his green shirt, but he didn't compare to the boy who came with green hair!

 

Derek got by with a lot of help from his friends. Here he gets a helping hand from his wife, Cheryl while signing books.

 

Though it was a busy week, Derek got to spend a lot of fun time with his uncle, aunt and cousins who live in the area, his brother who lives in Los Angeles and he even caught up with some old friends. The trip came to an end with a flight home on Derek's birthday (March 21st). Many thanks to everyone who came out and saw Derek in California. He's now gearing up for his next book tour scheduled for this fall. Stay tuned!
