Derek at the Minnesota Children's Museum

Derek will be appearing at Minnesota Storytime Sunday on Sunday, February 6, 2005. The event will take place at the Minnesota Children's Museum in St. Paul, Minnesota from 10am to 4pm and includes ten authors and illustrators. Derek will be giving a presentation at 1:00pm at which time he will introduce his brand new book, Little Quack's Bedtime. He will also be holding a brief drawing workshop for kids and then signing copies of his books. This event is sponsored by the Minnesota Humanities Commission, Minnesota Children's Museum and St. Paul Pioneer Press. For more information please click here.

As we've mentioned in previous news, Little Quack is available and selling in countries all over the world. We've gathered some of the covers for your viewing pleasure. The upper left cover is from France (Parlez vous Francais?). The upper right is from Germany (Sprechen Sie Deutsch?) And the bottom one is, of course, Little Quack's Hide and Seek, also from Germany. The Little Quack books are also available in the UK (which doesn't look any different) and South Korea (which looks very different). We will be posting pictures as they become available.

Awards News...

Little Quack was named an IRA/CBC Childrens' Choice Award Winner for 2004. The International Reading Association, in conjuction with the Children's Book Council sponsors a program in which more than 10,000 children from different regions around the United States read and vote on their favorites from a list of more than 650 newly published books. Little Quack was one of those chosen. Hooray for Little Quack!

 

In Other News...

As many of you already know from reading the Doodles and Splatters page of this site, there is an all new Little Quack picture book coming out in February 2005 called Little Quack's Bedtime.

In addition to all of Derek's new projects for next year, we're happy to announce another release. This February, the first Little Quack will be published in a classic board book edition by Little Simon, an imprint of Simon & Schuster. Measuring 6" X 6" it is the perfect size and durability for little hands. The board book will be available both from your local bookstore and online.
