Robert's Snow

Derek will be participating in the second annual Robert's Snow for Cancer's Cure. The idea is a simple one. Nationally recognized children's book illustrators paint original snowflakes and they're auctioned on ebay with 100% of the proceeds going to cancer research. Last year, Robert's Snow raised more than $100,000 for cancer research. You could own an original piece of art by Derek Anderson or one of the many other talented artists participating this year. The snowflakes will be displayed on the Robert's Snow web site this summer and will be auctioned on ebay this fall. You can visit the site by clicking HERE. Derek was recently on Tour!

 

Derek has just returned from a multi-city, two week tour to promote his brand new book, Gladys Goes Out to Lunch. It all kicked off on the weekend of April 22nd & 23rd at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books on the UCLA campus in Los Angeles, California. Derek visited bookstores and schools for four days in sunny southern California before going on to Albuquerque, New Mexico for two days, Houston, Texas for four days and San Antonio, Texas. In San Antonio, Derek attended the International Reading Association conference where he signed at the Simon & Schuster booth and had the opportunity to speak with many other authors and teachers who were attending. He then flew on to Chicago, Illinois where he spent two very busy days speaking and signing at stores and schools all around the city.

Derek in Mpls/St Paul Magazine

~ Minnesota Reads from A to Z ~

Mpls/St Paul magazine has published a special article on Minnesota authors from A to Z. In their May issue (on newsstands now) they have listed one Minnesota author for every letter of the alphabet. Derek is listed under the letter A. They also have brief "sidebars" for seven of the authors- listing what their favorite childhood books were. Derek's is one of those listed.
