Derek
Anderson has extensive experience speaking to all age
levels in schools. He's spoken to groups as young as pre-school
and
kindergarten, all the way up through high school and college.
For younger grades, he generally reads his books, talks
about how he creates characters, and how books are made.
When
speaking to older groups, Derek gives an in-depth presentation,
using slides to show the process of completing an illustration
from
sketch to final
painting. In addition, he shows early work and uses a variety
of paintings as a spring board to discuss how he
comes up with ideas, how
he works and how he broke into publishing.
