Have Derek Speak at your School!

Derek loves to speak to school groups- and he's done it A LOT! He has spoken to groups as young as pre-school and kindergarten, all the way up through high school and college. For younger grades, he does a fun presentation discussing everything from his first drawings as a kid to where he gets his ideas for his books today. And Derek always enjoys doing drawing demonstrations.

 

When speaking to older groups, Derek gives an in-depth Powerpoint presentation showing the process of completing an illustration from the first sketch to final painting. In addition, he shows early work and uses a variety of paintings as a spring board to discuss how he comes up with ideas, how he works and how he broke into publishing.
