This photo, taken in February 2006, shows Derek putting the finishing touches on his book, How the Easter Bunny Saved Christmas. Derek normally works day and night when painting a book, and this was no exception. He could often be found working in the studio past 2:00 am. The paintings were due shortly after this photo was taken.
